Healthcare: 2008 Five Star Rating
Early on some sisters demonstrated natural talents for the medical field and by the 1980's their services were required within the community. Until then, sisters who were ill or elderly were transferred to our infirmary in Saint Laurent, Canada. This practice changed because of the restrictions of Socialized Medicine in Canada.
Leadership had the wisdom to establish Holy Cross Health Center in Manchester. This forty-bed facility meets not only our needs but also reaches out to other congregations and to other lay women in need of care on a space available basis. Some sisters are fortunate to have members of their families receiving care at our facility. The 2008 Five Star Rating of the Federal Government attests to the quality of care offered by the administrators and staff as they respond to the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of the sick.
